Tai-Chi-Exercises in the Morning Sun
The sunrise at 7.15 a.m. created the perfect scenery for the slow Tai-Chi-movements taught by the students from China. Some movements had funny names like „the horse“.
Our Friend from Kenya
Roger Ogola is a teacher from Kenya. Most of the Youth Forum participants already got to know him as a very funny and warm-hearted person.
Can you tell us something about the Kipkeino School in Kenya?
288 children from the age of 7 to 14 are visiting our school. One class consists of 36 pupils, 18 girls and 18 boys. The official language is English. And like most students all over the world, the students in our school like playing football and raunders, that´s a game like baseball. Why did you come to the Youth Forum without any students? The Greece Embassy didn´t give my students a visa. This was very unfair und the students are very, very upset. Can you tell us why your school is a member of the Coubertin-School-Network?We have a new education project, it´s called OVEP. The values that are taught by this project are the same as the Olympic Values, e.g. joy of effort, fair play etc. What will you tell your students, who couldn´t take part in the Youth Forum? I will show them all the pictures I took. And I also got presents from the Greece school I can give to my students.
Art Competitions: Olympic Time Walk
The jury was astonished at the variety of the art presentations. The schools had taken the 4th tasked of the Coubertin Award very serious and put a lot of effort in their performances. Each of the 19 presentations was unique and entertaining. The Italiens deeply impressed the audience with a special choreography and gymnastic elements like back flips. Other schools per-formed sketches, dances in colorful traditional costumes, music presentations and a lot more. The delegation from Great Britain travelled from the past to the future of the Olympic Games And in the style of the famous song of the „Rocky Horror Picture Show“ they invited everybody to do the time walk again. All the other 130 students joined in and did the (olympic) time walk again and again and again… School Presentation Part 2
The great event of Tuesday´s evening was the second part of the school presentations. Participants of the schools from Erfurt, Much Wenlock, Pallini, Tokyo, Kenya, Tunis and Piešt´any got their chance to present themselves and their schools from their best sides. Our new guests Mr. and Mrs. Sluyter Mathew were visibly impressed by the different performances. The students introduced the facilities and special features of their hometowns and schools, aspects of their daily life including topics like difficulties in the combination of sports and education in the daily routine or their special connection to the Olympic Games. The group from Slovakia even invited the audience (We hope there is enough money in your piggy bank!) and said goodby with the new motto of the Forum:“We love Pierre!“
